The headline “Personal Income Boosted by Stimulus” on June 26 caught my eye. The first story was carried by CNN Money and is now available from 287 news services. When I first saw the headline and read the story, I thought “What a Load of Manure”. Well not exactly, but I will not use the first word that came to mind.
When I returned from a trip on Friday, Bob Seger’s Against the Wind was playing. I sat listening to the lyrics after I parked the truck. It seems funny, I started the truck on Saturday and “Against the Wind” was playing again. I looked at the dash where the CD player would be and realized I was in my old truck and didn’t have a CD player. Almost exactly 20 hours later, the same song was playing on the radio, parked in my driveway almost exactly where I left off the day before, an omen, a subject or the mood.
I should have checked my horoscope before paying my mortgages this month. The stars aligned and starting last night at about 8 PM a giant “Kick Me” sign went on my backside. Actually at 8:09 PM I received a call from one of my mortgage servicers to remind me that my payment was due, except it wasn’t. They received my payment on the 13th and processed on the 14th of the month. The “War Dialer” didn’t know, so I had a “NICE” conversation with Mr. Jones, in which he actually confirmed that my account information and “War Dialer” were not on the same sheet of music.
It is not an easy question to answer. Perhaps it is not an easy question to ask. How does the Lord view our suffering in a bad economy, and do economic hardships cause the Lord to suffer?
There is no doubt that the Spin Doctors have been successful. They spun the economy into a frenzy that could not be sustained. Others put the spin on the stock market, while speculators put a spin on everyone with high gas and oil prices. Fair and balanced news is so far from the truth it not even funny.
