Mortgage Lenders Network filed for bankruptcy in February 2007, foundering amid mistakes in pricing some loans and an industrywide increase in defaults in subprime mortgages – loans made to people with tarnished credit. About 1,800 people lost their jobs, about half in Connecticut.
