HSBC Mortgage Horror Stories Showing Up

In a report from Household – HSBC Watch we learn of a mortgage loan officer who lost his job. The individual has an adjustable mortgage and owes more than the house is worth. The loan is from HSBC. What follows is the actual report submitted to consumer advocates:

ZP in Georgia says: “I’m sure everyone knows about the closing of some large and small mortgage institutions. HSBC will not help you if you are one of the many individuals that have an adjustable rate mortgage with a decreased property value. My husband was a loan officer for a mortgage comp. and was laid off. To try to keep our credit healthy enough to find a lender that would be able to help our situation, we made our August payment. But HSBC did not stop there. They debited another payment the next day and post dated the pay date for Sept. 7th. Now they want us to go through all of these changes just to have the money credited back to our account. Like send in a letter requesting a credit along with a copy of our bank statement showing the two debits. Why would anyone give them a copy of their statement if they couldn’t keep from making two identical debits from their account? We are going to do everything within our power to make a big stink at HSBC.”
